Six decades after Mary Baldwin first celebrated Apple Day, the event is as popular as ever. Perks include cancelled classes, a carnival, apple gleaning, paint the town, and a plethora of apple dishes served at the Dining Hall.
All Apple Eve & Apple Day Information is included below. Read through it all so you don’t miss a single detail!
Apple Eve | Monday, October 2nd
Apple Eve: Attack the PAC/SAC! –Monday, October 2nd
Please note that this is an alcohol-free event. If you arrive intoxicated, you will not be allowed to enter the Dodgeball game at the PAC or the Dance in the SAC.
6:45pm| Entry Opens to the PAC
- MBU ID is required for all MBU students
- Guests must have a valid government issued ID with them to enter
- Arrive early so games may begin on time
7pm | Class vs. Class Dodgeball at the PAC
- Wear your class colors and bring your spirit!
- Students who are not playing can sit in the bleachers to cheer on the games.
- Dodgeball rules are attached to this email and must be followed!
- Remember the more people from your class who show up on the field, the better your chances of your class being victorious! You don’t need to be an athlete to help out your team!
- The last student standing on both teams for each game will receive a gift card!
8:00-8:30pm | Dance Off! @ the SAC
- Join us in the SAC immediately following the last dodgeball game for performances from our very of Ladies of Elegance, African Student Kollective, and MBU Cheerleaders
- Your IDs will be checked again as you come from the Dodgeball game into the Dance Off, so have them ready!
- MBU ID is required for all MBU students
- Guests must have a valid government issued ID with them to enter
- The top 5 Apple Day Royalty will be announced during the Dance Off, and voting will be done electronically until midnight.
8:30-11pm | Apple Eve Dance Party @ the SAC
- Dance the night away with DJ Mike in the SAC
- Play board games and enjoy refreshments in the Café
- Stay tuned to hear about the Junior Class fundraiser during Apple Eve
Apple Day | Tuesday, October 3rd
7:15am | Buses begin loading for Apple Gleaning
- All buses will load in front of the SAC for Apple Gleaning.
- 3 are dedicated to the Apple Gleaning in Strasburg.
- Please dress appropriately for your projects
- i.e. closed toed shoes, clothes you can do work in.
- For Apple Gleaning, you must wear long pants and closed-toe shoes, rain boots or shoes that can get muddy.

7:30am | Buses leave for Apple Gleaning
8:30am | Vans load for Valley Mission Service Project

10:30am-2pm | Apple Day Brunch @ Hunt Dining Hall
Make sure to stop by Hunt for some Apple-themed goodness to fuel you for the Carnival!
12pm-12:30pm | Buses return from Gleaning
2pm-5pm | Apple Day Carnival outside the SAC
Inflatables, popcorn, cotton candy, snow cones, games and activities galore!
- Make sure to bring your spare change as some activities may cost around $1 or less to play!
- Apple Day Royalty 2017 will be announced at 3:15pm
- Tug ‘o War between the Classes will take place on the President’s Lawn at 3:30pm
- Apple Day shirts will be available to order. Cash only. Shirts cost $15.
