MBU Student Band
The MBU student band is a dynamic ensemble where musicians, movers, and makers unite to create unforgettable performances that resonate both on campus and in the broader community.

Performance, Community, Pride
At MBU, marching together means growing together—in music,
friendship, and purpose.
What We Do
The MBU student band is both a marching and concert band featuring traditional woodwind, brass, and percussive instrumentation.
Our members showcase their talents through monthly performances, including campus parades, holiday concerts, and a signature spring parade in Baltimore each March.
With over 30 members annually, the MBU student band is committed to fostering Squirrel pride, building deep communal bonds, and sharing inspiring performances!

Proudly Partnered with VWIL
The MBU band plays a significant role in promoting and inspiring the Virginia Women’s Institute for Leadership (VWIL) Corps of Cadets. Together, we participate in parades, honor ceremonies, and special celebrations, showcasing the university and fostering goodwill within the Staunton, Washington, D.C., and Baltimore communities.
MBU is committed to supporting services members in the armed forces. Our band performs at memorial services to honor fallen military personnel.

Band camp kicks off with two half-day sessions prior to MBU Orientation. The camp allows new and returning members to bond, learn musical and marching techniques, and prepare for upcoming performances.
Members will receive priority move-in schedules to accommodate band camp attendance.
We rehearse for just one hour each week during the academic year, allowing you to balance your musical pursuits with other academic and co-curricular activities. is this practice the same as the class?
All marching band members enroll in this 1-credit course held on Tuesday evenings. This course offers a low-stress, enjoyable path to earn academic credit while engaging in musical performance.
Each semester, the band hosts a casual social event—a chance to relax, celebrate, and strengthen bonds with fellow musicians and cadets.
