There are two new apps available to use while visiting Mary Baldwin for the All-Alumni Homecoming weekend. The Mary Baldwin Alumni app is a brand new mobile application that connects alumni with former classmates as well as the full schedule of homecoming activities. The Traipse app is a self-guided interactive tour for alumni to rediscover the MBU campus.
Anyone can download the Mary Baldwin Alumni app; however, they must be registered for an event during the All-Alumni Homecoming and 2017 Class Reunions to access its functionality.
The app is meant to be used as a social interaction tool and is useful for connecting with former classmates, scheduling homecoming events, and even connecting with homecoming organizers. The app can still be utilized after the weekend to keep in touch with classmates in the future.
In addition to the complete Homecoming schedule, the app provides detailed location information, names of presenters, and a brief descriptions of daily activities. This allows alumni to plan their entire homecoming experience without the stress of keeping up with a paper copy schedule.
Alumni news and newsletters can also be accessed digitally on the app so users stay abreast of exciting advancements and achievements among their fellow Squirrels, well past homecoming weekend.
Users can connect to Twitter directly through the Mary Baldwin app, catch up on recent tweets from the university, and even tweet about Homecoming in real time.
Based in Staunton, the Traipse app leads users on a themed tour of some of Staunton’s historic business district, stopping along the way to learn interesting facts and complete riddles, brainteasers, and other puzzles based on the user’s surroundings.
For homecoming, alumni can use the app to complete an optional self-guided history tour on the Mary Baldwin campus. The local developer created this app for Mary Baldwin Homecoming in the hopes that alumni will learn even more than they thought they did about the historic campus.
