Mary Baldwin University’s Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) graduate program has earned a trailblazing designation among university programs globally.
It is now listed as an Approved Content Provider by the International Behavior Analysis Organization (IBAO), an international ABA credentialing organization.
MBU students who complete graduate-level ABA courses may now earn the credential of International Behavior Analyst. They must also meet the IBAO’s supervised practice and examination requirements.
“The IBAO and MBU share a common vision of empowering students and future behavior analysts by ensuring that they are trained to practice in an ethical, culturally sensitive, and well-informed manner,” said Michael Mueller, IBAO founder. “Having an accepted framework and international standard allows students to be confident that their education and practice experiences will be recognized around the world.”
The international organization provides ABA practitioners living outside of North America with educational, experiential, examination, and practice standards to ensure that they have robust professional qualifications.
“Through collaboration with agencies like the IBAO, we can impact the field for the benefit of clients, colleagues, and caregivers on a global scale,” said Rachel Potter, director of Applied Behavior Analysis & Autism Studies at MBU and member of the IBAO Professional Advisory Board. “We are delighted to be pioneers as the first Approved Content Provider to meet the IBAO’s rigorous standards and look forward to welcoming more international students into our online ABA programs.”
Potter has also assisted the IBAO with creating the International Behavior Analyst examination, coordinating the exam validation study, and other critical activities for the organization.
“Several other prominent universities and colleges have also requested Approved Content Provider applications,” Mueller said. “The IBAO decided to award MBU with the first designation as a way to provide appreciation to Dr. Potter and bring additional recognition to MBU’s Applied Behavior Analysis Program.”
In addition to the new international designation, MBU continues to maintain its status as providing a Verified Course Sequence. This designation from the Association for Behavior Analysis International applies to students in the United States and Canada who are pursuing board certification through the Behavior Analyst Certification Board.
