Photos: Pumpkin Carving 2022

The MBU Family gathered on Oct. 27 for the annual pumpkin carving hosted by President Pamela Fox and university first husband, Dan Layman.

Students, faculty, and staff pitched in to carve the display from 125 pumpkins making the couple’s final time hosting the event the biggest ever. Layman founded pumpkin carving at MBU, and it has become a much-anticipated tradition.

This year’s surprise message references a full verse from “A Hymn for Mary Baldwin” in a personal farewell note as Fox prepares to retire in summer 2023:

When we reach the last tomorrow
Of our days in class, on field
We will know how we must borrow,
Mary Baldwin, from thy yield.
Love and Honor, Pamela + Dan
