MBU students got up early on October 3 and traveled to Marker-Miller Orchards in Winchester to kick off the university’s annual celebration of Apple Day.
Together with President Jeff Stein and his wife, Chrissy, they gleaned apples to donate to area food banks, amounting to:
- 153 bags of apples
- 6,120 pounds
- 612 people fed
With undergraduate classes cancelled, the day brought many activities for students to contribute to the community and enjoy campus with their classmates, including:
- Volunteering with local schools and community garden
- Campus beautification projects
- Apple Day brunch at the Dining Hall
- Cider and donuts at Murphy Deming
- Afternoon carnival
- Remix the Hymn
Plus MBU alumni hosted celebratory gatherings in honor of Apple Day through the week.
