MBU Donors Spread Some “New Year Cheer”

Mary Baldwin’s generous donors make miracles happen every day for students, faculty, and staff.

This month, New Year Cheer provided free coffee to students across both of MBU’s campuses, and the students relished in donors’ generosity and this little miracle that made a dreary day better.

MBU’s year-end giving event, New Year Cheer welcomed alumni and community members to give back and usher the university into 2024.

The campaign was a huge success – generating almost 170 gifts and more than $100,000 to benefit Mary Baldwin’s people and campuses. These gifts, and all the continued support from the MBU community, can bring a deserving student to Mary Baldwin, give them real-world experiences for their future career, provide them with a warm and supportive learning environment, and ensure their college experience is robust and full of opportunities to develop and grow.

The coffee for New Year Cheer was provided by Micah’s Coffee, a small business founded in Waynesboro and now serving Waynesboro, Stuarts Draft, Ruckersville, and Staunton.

The event was a welcome surprise for students, faculty, and staff who passed by the crowded tables in Murphy Deming and the Nuthouse. And, for students especially, the fact that it was the community’s generosity made it even sweeter.
