Furniture and Art Sale Brings New Life to Campus Antiques
Mary Baldwin University is excited to announce a unique opportunity for alumni and community members to own a piece of MBU history. As part of an initiative to bring new life to unused furniture, rugs, and MBU community art, some of which was created by faculty and students that has been stored in campus buildings for years, MBU is partnering with a local auction house to offer these items for sale.
Featuring a range of pieces that once adorned the halls and rooms of MBU, this special sale is an opportunity both to acquire vintage and antique items, and to support the university.
“The university had pieces of furniture, carpets and art in storage that aren’t of extraordinary historic significance, but are antiques in good condition, previously pulled from use in the Administration Building, Alumnae House, and other guest-centered areas of campus,” said Brig. Gen. Terry Djuric, USAF, Retired. “While they’re no longer needed by the university, they still hold sentimental value and charm. We’re thrilled to offer our alumni and community members the chance to bring these pieces into their homes, giving them a new life.
Pictures of the items will be shared on social media this month, and the auction will be conducted through Staunton-based Gates Estates, making it easy for interested buyers to participate.
Gates Estates is promoting items for sale and accepting bids until August 15. Stay tuned for updates on MBU’s social media and outreach channels. For more details, visit the auction page, call 804-361-4155, or email info@cardinalauctionservices.com.
