First-Year Students
First-year students
As an incoming student, all you need to do is complete our housing application and build your unique roommate-matching profile. We want to know your preferences, interests, and everything that makes you the awesome individual you are.
Our dedicated team will take your profile into careful consideration. While housing is allocated based on the roommate matching process, our aim is to create a supportive and inclusive community that celebrates your individuality and fosters lifelong friendships.
Please note, first-year students live in the residence hall assigned to their Neighborhood unless they choose to participate in one of the themed communities below.
Neighborhood Houses
- Woodson Hall – Business & Technology, Education and Society
- Spencer Hall – Creativity and Design, Health and Science
Themed Houses
- Tyson Hall – Ida B. Wells Community
- McClung Residence Hall – Mary Baldwin College for Women (MBCW)
- Spencer Hall – PERSIST Program
- Kable Hall – Virginia Women’s Institute for Leadership (VWIL)
Our residence halls feature double and triple rooms with communal-style bathrooms, kitchens, lounges, and laundry rooms (with free laundry!).
