The annual multicultural event Las Posadas — popular in Latin American communities around the world — celebrates the seasonal holidays with a reenactment of Mary and Joseph’s search for shelter and a place for the birth of the baby Jesus. Las Posadas at Mary Baldwin is a pilgrimage that winds its way through the residence halls with lead characters Mary and Joseph knocking on doors and asking for a night’s lodging. Each stop along the way reflects a different holiday tradition, including Chanukah, Kwanzaa, and Christmas as celebrated in the Caribbean, Ireland, and Africa. The journey starts at the PEG building at 6 p.m.
