Homecoming 2017: Old Favorites Return to Weekend Line-Up

The Bloody Mary reception, an annual event during Mary Baldwin Reunion weekend, returns this year for the All-Alumni Homecoming April 20–23. With a recent time and location change, the event will now begin at 9:15 a.m. on Page Terrace to accommodate those who are going to participate in another old favorite, MBU’s All-Alumni Parade of Classes.

For those who remember previous parades, Susan Myers ’72 is working to re-create the festive activities. Organizers encourage alumni who plan to take part in the parade to come dressed in class colors or another item of clothing that represents their class year. Classes that have a class song will perform during the parade, and alumni from classes without songs are encouraged to compose a song or something else to represent that class year.

“It is all for fun, so don’t worry if your class chooses to do something different,” said Anne Holland, director of alumni events. “We just want to have class spirit, class unity and, most importantly, have fun.”

All classes planning to participate in the Parade of Classes will gather on Wilson Terrace outside of the Carpenter Academic Building and then line up by class going up the steps (it wouldn’t be a Mary Baldwin event, if it didn’t include some steps) and parade from the sidewalk on the campus side of Carpenter to Francis Auditorium to gather for the Outstanding Alumni Awards Celebration and President’s Address.

Information, including the timing of each class picture on Saturday, will be inside registration packets upon arrival.
