Find Magic Here: MBU’s Hufflepuff Village Returns Saturday

The annual festival known as Queen City Mischief and Magic is coming to downtown Staunton this weekend, and MBU joins the celebration of all things Harry Potter with Hufflepuff Village events and activities from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday at MBU @ the Wharf, 19 West Johnson Street.

This year, MBU’s Hufflepuff Village features free quill lessons, face painting, and yard games, plus three opportunities to prove your Potter expertise in a trivia game. Lunch options, snacks, and butterbeer, plus one-of-a-kind swag will be available for purchase.

All weekend, MBU is hosting Accio Knowledge!, a series of lectures on topics ranging from keynote speaker John Granger’s exploration of “Why We Love Harry Potter” to new scientific discoveries named after Potter characters. Many of Saturday’s lectures will be held inside MBU @ the Wharf where Professor of Psychology Louise Freeman has organized MBU’s own Beauxbatons Academy.

The university also sponsors the main festival stage at Sunspots Pavilion, featuring magic shows, costume parades, wand dueling demonstrations, live wildlife shows, and much more throughout the weekend.

Queen City Mischief and Magic attracts thousands of visitors to Staunton, as local merchants and non-profits create a magical village with themed shopping, dining, and activities for all ages. It runs from Friday, September 27 to Sunday, September 29 in the downtown areas surrounding Beverley Street.
