La Casa Rosario Castellanos: Latine Cultural Center

La Casa Rosario Castellanos is Mary Baldwin’s Latine Cultural Center. Named for Rosario Castellanos, one of Mexico’s most important feminist literary voices, La Casa houses young women passionate about celebrating and exploring Latine culture. Members work closely with the Office of Inclusive Excellence to organize special events for the broader MBU campus community.

About Us

La Casa Rosario Castellanos is a living-learning community for Latine students, uniting diverse perspectives and areas of interest in their shared cultural heritage. In addition to hosting and creating celebrations of Latine culture, La Casa serves as a meeting and programming space for the Office of Inclusive Excellence’s Latines Unides club.

Who is Rosario Castellanos?

Rosario Castellanos Figueroa is an acclaimed 20th century Mexican poet and author. Her writing explored feminist ideals and issues of race and culture, particularly for Mexico. She received many awards for her works, and is prominently remembered for having paved the way for other Mexican women to read, write, and critically engage with literature.
